Alternative Fibromyalgia Treatments

There is no doubt that doctors work very hard to get the education they need to improve the quality of life for their patients and even cure some illnesses while they are at it.  It’s also common for health care professionals to continue their educations as technology and research changes the face of practicing medicine.  As diligent as most doctors are, they are still “practicing” medicine and aren’t perfect or even God like.  When you are suffering from a painful and life altering disease like fibromyalgia, there are times when you may have to thing outside the box to get the relief you desperately need.  That’s where alternative fibromyalgia treatments come into play.

  • Start training

  • Watch what you eat

  • Explore the world of alternative medical treatments

The idea of working out or getting exercise when you are in so much pain probably doesn’t make a lot of sense to you.  However the human body works much better, regardless of its condition if it is allowed to move.  At first, exercise may increase your pain and that part really makes you want to quit. Over a little bit of time, you will find that exercising gets easier and actually helps you with the symptoms of chronic pain, fatigue and some of the bowel issues you might be facing.  Yoga, walking, and gentle stretches are all very good activities to start with and they promote relaxation as well.

As if you don’t have enough to worry about, your diet may have something to do with the severity of your fibromyalgia symptoms as well.  It shouldn’t be too hard to make some helpful changes.  Your best course of action is to make your changes gradually and take the time to learn something about preparing tasty, healthy meals.  For the most part all you have to do is eat the way most nutritional experts recommend that anyone eats.  Special emphasis is often placed on eliminating alcohol, carbonated beverages, and red meat from the diet though.

We have already mentioned yoga as an alternative fibromyalgia treatment, others like massage therapy and acupuncture have been shown to be beneficial as well.  Seeking chiropractic care is popular with fibromyalgia patients as well.  Just be sure to find a chiropractor with all of the necessary licenses and education.  While the rest of the medical community is working on effective fibromyalgia cures, you can be taking care of your health the best way you know how.
