Waiting on Fibromyalgia Cures

It’s never a good feeling when you get the news that there is something wrong with you or a loved one.  When that diagnosis includes the word fibromyalgia, it can be hard to keep your chin up.  Anyone with this disease or who is close to someone that does is well acquainted with the miserable symptoms of this disease.  It’s also upsetting to hear the news that while many fibromyalgia cures are in the works, they are still a long way off from being effective.  That’s mostly because they are still working on finding the cause of this disease.  That doesn’t mean all hope is lost.  Many people with fibromyalgia are being effectively treated and have discovered some of the tricks to feeling better on their own.  Maybe some of their tips can help you too.

  • Watch what you eat and drink

  • Stay active

  • Pay attention to your doctor’s orders

The medical community hasn’t put forth an exact diet for fibromyalgia like those that have been done of diseases like diabetes and heart disease, but common sense can help you feel better with fibromyalgia.  Any food or habit that is good for people in general is going to be great for the fibromyalgia patient.  Experts particularly suggest eliminating carbonated beverages from your diet along with alcohol and caffeine.  You may also want to limit your consumption of red meat, high fat dairy ingredients and fried foods.  Every little bit of change helps and makes all of your efforts worth it.

With all of the chronic pain associated with fibromyalgia, it makes sense that most patients would prefer to not move any more than necessary.  However exercise can help reduce many of the symptoms of fibromyalgia like the chronic fatigue and even the pain if it practiced enough.  Many patients also report more energy and less joint pain the longer they continue with their fitness plan.  Continuing to work and be a productive member of society helps to reduce feelings of depression so common with this disease as well.

Along with making sound decisions on your own in regards to your health, listening to doctors’ advice is very important as well.  As mentioned, nothing cures fibromyalgia yet, but careful monitoring of your medications and attention to the details of daily care can make a huge difference.  Fibromyalgia relief comes in many forms; don’t close yourself off from any of them.
