Treating Chronic Fatigue Fibromyalgia

While you might have been happier with a different diagnosis, at least you now know what is wrong.  Hearing you have chronic fatigue fibromyalgia is not the best news you could hope for, but there are treatments to help and other therapies that can help give you some peace from the pain and discomfort of this disorder.  Our purpose here will be to go over some of the techniques doctors and other health specialists can give you as well as some of the common everyday things you can do to make your life a lot easier.  In the meantime, the hope is that someday soon, the experts find out more about fibromyalgia and find a cure.

  • Common medications used in treating fibromyalgia

  • Alternative treatments

  • Good health practices for everyday

There are several medications that can be used to relieve the symptoms of fibromyalgia.  Your medical team will work closely with you to figure out which combination works best for you.  It’s likely you will find a muscle relaxant, in some cases antidepressants are used for both their intended use as well as to promote restful sleep.  While they are never used alone as a treatment for fibromyalgia; over the counter painkillers like ibuprofen and acetaminophen are commonly prescribed as well.  For some people, the anti seizure drug pregabalin can help with some types of pain.

It is never recommended to fire your doctor and Western medicine when it comes to controlling fibromyalgia, but there are other health disciplines that can help.  As a 2006 study done by the Mayo Clinic suggests acupuncture has been shown to improve the pain issues associated with fibromyalgia significantly.  Another alternative health care practice that may help with the pain is massage therapy.  Along with promoting oxygenation of the soft tissue and muscles of the body, it is also wonderful for reducing stress.  Another pain decreasing method to consider is chiropractic care.  Just make sure the person you see is licensed in their practice as it does come with some risks.

Whether you suffer from chronic fatigue fibromyalgia or not, everyone should be taking care of their health.  However especially when you want to help your fibromyalgia treatment along, eating well, getting adequate exercise, and sleeping enough is paramount to controlling this disease.  As noted, fibromyalgia isn’t the best news, but you can learn how to live life as close to normal as possible.
